BATUQUI BRAZILIAN BITES

Year: 2026
Category: Food

Context
Batuqui, a Brazilian restaurant in the United States, decided to bring its flavors to retail with its first line of six gourmet frozen savory snacks. The packaging needed to introduce products still relatively unfamiliar to American consumers, address the challenges of bilingual communication, and stand out in the premium segment.
The challenge was to create a vibrant yet sophisticated Brazilian identity that could connect with new audiences without relying on the country’s most obvious cultural symbols, while remaining recognizable to the Brazilian community.

What we did in this project
Packaging Design.

Development

To create a Brazilian identity beyond the obvious, we turned to the country’s rich flora as the starting point for the project. Expressive botanical illustrations, exclusively hand-drawn, depict native species such as andiroba flowers, giant water lilies, buriti palms, açaí, annatto, and Brazil nut trees. The organic linework reinforces the artisanal nature of the products while elevating their perceived quality.
The vibrant color palette also helps organize the product line: each flavor’s primary color reappears as an accent on the other packages. This system distinguishes the varieties while creating a cohesive and recognizable presence in the freezer aisle.
Since the stand-up pouches are opaque, realistic and appetizing food photography takes center stage, showcasing the shape, texture, and filling of each savory snack. English is given greater prominence to make the products easier for American consumers to understand, while Portuguese ensures clear identification for Brazilian expats. The message “good for party snacks” highlights a consumption occasion and encourages trial.
The result is a product line that feels distinctly Brazilian without being literal, artisanal without looking rustic, and sophisticated without losing its vibrant energy.
